Tsimbiu, which grows as a common weed in gardens, is used as a remedy for scabies.  The leaves are crushed into a juicy green pulp and placed on the skin around the affected area.  A drink made from Tsimbiu is also used to induce sterility.

More recently it has also been used as a remedy for diabetes.  Diabetics eat five of the berries daily.
